Our travel today of 12 plus hours to Cheyenne, Wyoming. We left bright and early and had a long day of driving. But thankfully we would be at our next stop for about 2 weeks, so there would be plenty of time to catch up on our rest! The kids did fantastic on this drive. They slept the first chunk of the trip, worked on some schoolwork, colored, played with Legos and played quite a few different games that we had brought! They pretty much finished the trip with some movies, tablet games and such! We only stopped once and that was in Moab, for some fuel. I made the kids run about half a mile before corralling them back in the motorhome for the long drive.
As we drove through Moab, we thought it would be awesome to stay one night there. We thought oh, let’s break the trip up and get in some riding here. We love Moab! Very similar to Sedona but without all the trees and greenery. We are in no rush. However, being memorial weekend, the spots were limited and the spots that were open, we just didn’t want to bare the stress of trying to maneuver into the spots they had open. So, off through the Rockies and last stretch of driving!
Going through the Rockies was an event for sure! The views were breath taking! Colorado is definitely one for the outdoorsy kind of person! It was a beautiful drive and always something that seemed to WOW us. Especially all the tunnels through the mountains! Some of the lenghts of these tunnels were insane. We have a thing in our family, anytime we see a tunnel, we think of all the things we are so grateful for and make a wish, in addition to holding our breath (at least attempting too for the whole length of it). Colorado having some of the longest tunnels we have experienced- a couple times I looked back and had to tell the kids to breath- not worth the wish! I swear their competiiveness sometime can get the best of them! For every bridge we go over, feet are off the ground! The kids now also think it’s fun to hold their breath and continue making wishes. So to say the least, we’ve made lots of wishes and stated lots of things we are grateful for! Always a fun little road trip tradition!
