We woke up and took our time this morning! Made our way through the Donners Pass with snow still on that mountain top. LOTS OF SNOW. The drive to Morro Bay was fairly simple, up until the last hour. Boy was this a sketchy last stretch to our campsite in Morro Bay. A two-lane road through a very narrow windy downhill road mountain. Very nerving! We pulled over at an emergency pull off (not very large) to let the Jetta out so that Blake could finish the drive to see if we would be able to continue to make it with our set up. Thank the good lord for that random spot of space to pull off in. 70ft of length is no laughing matters when it comes to needing to maneuver around. We truly have minimal options. Blake and Kaycen took off to see how much longer we had on this very sketchy pathway to Morro Bay. I stayed behind with the two younger kids, just in case. I mean, we were in a emergency only spot. The last town we went through had very steep 90 degree turns that left us feeling very uneasy with roads so narrow there was no room for error. We didn’t want to risk it anymore and just needed that confidence that the roads were going to get better.
After about 30 minutes gone, they returned with smiles on their face! They found our campsite, said it would be a little tight, but absolutely doable. The campsite we had was right there on the beach and it was 55ft long and 45 ft wide. So, Blake already planned to have to back the trailer in, unhitch and then back the motorhome in accordingly. Let’s hope this is the only stress to have on this trip!
Thank goodness for good friends down there being able to assist us with the trailer, as the sites were already full, and having them pull the trailer in vs us having to do it with the motorhome relieved so much stress!
